HOLLY, STUDIO OWNER + INSTRUCTOR
I discovered the benefits of pilates after suffering a neck injury following my second pregnancy. That period was debilitating in both body and mind. Through the learning of subtle movement patterns and rebuilding my core, I not only became stronger than I was before the injury but poised to delve further into the world of pilates. Now a mother of 3 children, I went back to school to become a STOTT certified instructor. I opened Maison Pilates to not only help others prevent a similar fate to mine, but also to become stronger in athletic endeavours and more generally in their daily life.
JOYCE, INSTRUCTOR + ROLFER
Joyce Cruvinel earned a bachelor degree in Physiotherapy in Brazil before moving to Canada. In 2005 she completed a M.Sc. in Human Kinesiology at UQAM, in Montreal. In 2009 she became a fully Certified Stott Pilates Instructor in order to help herself and others to overcome their injuries by regaining physical strength. She has since worked with Post-Rehabilitative Pilates. However, experience proved to her that an unbalanced body cannot move effectively and pain free. Searching for a way to improve her own body misalignments she discovered Rolfing and experienced the benefits of resolving pain, correcting imbalances and greatly facilitated ease of movement. Fascinated by the results obtained and the holistic approach of Rolfing, she became a Certified Rolfer in June 2015 at the Rolf Institute of Structural Integration in Boulder, Colorado. She is now incorporating the Rolfing SI and Pilates as they complement each other by systematically balancing and optimizing body structure and function.
KAREN, INSTRUCTOR
Karen Williams is graduate of the Mindful Movement Teacher Training Program. She has trained under master teachers such as Leslie Parker and Georgia Burns.
As a committed pilates mover for over 20 years, she knows first hand the power of this movement discipline. Sharing her love of movement through pilates on the mat, reformer and all apparatus has become a lifelong passion. Karen is currently working towards Anatomy of Pilates Certification, Pilates for Injuries and Pathologies along with Pre/Post Natal certifications. She is committed to helping her clients continue to move and feel good in their bodies.
A Rolfing Structural Integration (SI) Session is a holistic form of bodywork, done on a massage table as the therapist manipulates short and tight fascia or connective tissue, allowing the muscles to return to a balanced relationship and the body to release compensations - reorganizing and realigning the whole body.
The therapist will be primarily concerned with structural changes that can improve the client's posture, potentially resolve discomfort, reduce compensations and alleviate pain.
The is also a movement component that may occur within a Rolfing SI Session, where the practitioner and client work together, with specific movements, while targeting connective tissue that will be gently and deeply manipulated. According to each individuals needs, the session will address specific goals to systematically balance and optimize the structure and function (movement) of the entire body.
Clients can experience:
❥ restored mobility
❥ restored flexibility
❥ improved posture
❥ less pain
❥ revitalized energy
❥ renewed sense of well-being

PILATES
"Although I've done pilates over the years, I have never had an instructor who really took the time to find the modifications needed for my body to get the most out of the exercises. Holly was able to assess my alignment, then take in to account my body's strengths and weaknesses to create a work out that was challenging and fun. Her bright smile and energy is contagious and she's a pleasure to work with. I'd recommend her highly to anyone who might be thinking of starting pilates or who has loved pilates for years." - AV
"Holly is amazing. This was my first time doing pilates and my goal was increased flexibility and muscle strength, particularly in my core. The sessions with Holly exceeded all my expectations. Not only did I achieve increased muscle strength, but my posture which has always been terrible, improved dramatically with enhanced muscular control of my core. The pain in my back from very poor posture has abated, and I have so much more control now of my back and shoulders using my core. Holly is incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and approachable." - MC
Last year I took up pilates and with the amazing guidance of my instructor Holly I learned to enjoy fitness again. When I started, I struggled to master a proper breathing technique and Holly was so patient and gave me many new strategies and tips to help. I love that with pilates I don’t get bored as there is so much variety available between mat, reformer and all the other equipment and accessories. And I especially love how pilates has physically changed me - I feel stronger and taller. Working out with Holly is like training with a good friend and she knows just how to push me that little bit extra (which makes me love and hate her at the same time - haha). - JC
ROLFING
I had been searching for a Rolfer for years, with the modality having been recommended by a sports medicine doctor. I am grateful to have found Joyce. Joyce has worked with me over 10 sessions to correct awful posture - which has directly impacted my breathing and confidence. The pain in my rotator cuffs is gone and my core is much more engaged. I look forward to my "reset" appointments with Joyce. No boring old massages for me anymore. Only Rolfing! - SD
